Phase 2 of the £18m Nicholas Chamberlaine Secondary School
Completed and handed it over to client, the Department for Education (DfE), enabling pupils to start using their new school buildings. Phase 1 and 2 of the project, delivered as part of the East Midlands Priority Schools Batch A, included the construction of a new three-storey teaching block and single storey sports block. It also covers the refurbishment of the existing sports hall, including replacement cladding and glazing, as well as the associated external works, including utilities connections, drainage, hardstanding, paths and landscaping.
Initially undertaking the enabling works including the main access spine road, services, drainage, headwalls and Tarmac. Hannon Brothers were awarded the main works which consisted of the construction of 4nr new units over 2 sites.
Creation of a new unit built over previous cooling tower foundations and RC Culvert taking water from the adjacent River Trent. The new plot is now adjacent to a busy road and rail freight terminal.
Creation of 6nr new units and associated access roads/ car parks on an old landfill tip that previously housed the old Imperial Tabacco factory.
One of the first fully EV future-proofed projects we undertook. The job required careful planning to maintain full use of a pedestrian and cycle path through the project.
