Project Details

Creation of 6nr new units and associated access roads/ car parks on an old landfill tip that previously housed the old Imperial Tabacco factory.

Following demolition, the ground was improved with 3 different types of dynamic compaction piling. Work was complicated by the requirement to build around the existing access road to the current Imperial Tabacco factory which remained the primary access for shift workers in and out of the project. It also consisted of a secondary entrance to one of the units in proximity to a high-pressure gas main, all had to be dealt with sensitively because of contamination issues within the tip. We undertook construction of the units foundations, drainage, services and externals.
